Understanding reconstitution math

A straightforward introduction to mass, volume, and concentration.

Three quantities, one relationship

Concentration is mass divided by volume. For a mathematical example, 10 milligrams distributed in 2 milliliters produces a concentration of 5 milligrams per milliliter. This is an arithmetic example, not preparation advice.

Keep the units consistent

One milligram equals 1,000 micrograms. Convert quantities to the same unit before calculating.

What a calculator cannot tell you

Arithmetic does not establish sterility, compatibility, stability, or an appropriate dose. Those questions require validated product information and professional guidance.
